Selected text is processed on your device. The extension does not send selected content to the developer or third parties.
Scope
This policy covers the Color Picker Chrome extension and its bundled color playground. The extension identifies selected CSS color codes, displays swatches, and copies a color code when you click a swatch. No account is required.
Data access and use
Selected text and color codes: while enabled, the extension reads text you select on a web page or in a supported input field. It also reads one character immediately before and after the selection to check color-code boundaries. This content is parsed on your device to display swatches. It is not added to a selection history or saved in extension storage.
Text positions: selection ranges, relevant text nodes, and screen coordinates position the swatches and markers. The extension adds a color-preview interface to the current page.
Preferences:chrome.storage.local saves whether the extension is enabled, whether inline swatches appear, and whether HEX codes without # are recognized. Preferences remain in your browser profile; Chrome sync storage is not used.
Clipboard: the extension attempts to write a color code only when you click its swatch or marker. It does not read your clipboard. Operating-system clipboard history or synchronization is controlled by your system settings.
A selection may include other text from the page or form. That selection is processed locally only to identify color codes. Password input fields are excluded. The extension does not record browsing history, full URLs, click histories, or keystroke logs.
Website access and permissions
Content scripts run on HTTP and HTTPS pages and their frames to show previews after text selection. Local HTML files are supported only when you enable Chrome's file-URL access setting. The storage permission is used only for the preferences described above. You can manage website access in Chrome's extension settings.
Sharing, tracking, and limited use
This version contains no analytics, advertising, trackers, or remote code. It does not transmit selected text, color codes, or preferences to the developer or third parties. Data is not sold or used for advertising, creditworthiness, or purposes unrelated to color previews. The developer does not receive or manually read selected content. Color Picker's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention and control
Parsing results are used for the current page's preview without a persistent history. Closing or reloading the page releases its temporary state. Press Esc to close a preview; use the toolbar popup to pause parsing or change preferences. Preferences remain until changed, extension storage is cleared, or the extension is uninstalled. Copied color codes may remain in the system clipboard until you overwrite or clear them.
Contact and updates
For questions about this policy or data handling, contact kevinyaungputra@gmail.com. If you voluntarily send a support message or screenshot, the developer uses that information to respond to your inquiry. Avoid including unnecessary personal or confidential information.
When functionality or data handling changes, this policy and its effective date will be updated. The Chrome Web Store, browser, operating system, and hosting service for the public policy page operate under their respective policies. The extension does not send selected content to those services.
